Frequently asked questions
Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about buying, preparing and hosting a murder mystery night.
01
Delivery & access
Right after purchase, every file is available to download from your account. Everything is digital — there's no shipping.
All materials are PDFs that work on any device. Print them, or read them on screens and tablets.
Yes. Your purchases are saved to your account. Sign in any time to download them again.
Yes. You'll create a free account at checkout, which is how you get back to your downloads any time.
02
Printing & setup
It depends on the mystery and the size of your group: the Host Guide, one character packet per guest, and the clues. Each mystery page shows its player range so you can plan.
No. Every mystery comes in premium colour and a printer-friendly black-and-white version, with the same clues in both.
Absolutely. Digital play works well — just make sure players can't see each other's screens.
Plan time to read the Host Guide before the night. Longer mysteries take longer to prepare, and the guide tells you what to set up.
03
Host Mode
An assistant for the night itself. It answers your questions from your mystery's own Host Guide — pacing, rules, what to do if a guest cancels — and gives hints at the strength you choose.
Anyone signed in, for the mysteries in their library — ones you bought, claimed with a credit or got as a bonus.
It's built not to. It won't give away the answer unless you press Reveal solution and confirm, and hints are written to point at evidence rather than name the culprit.
04
Difficulty modes
Standard mode includes discussion prompts, contextual hints on clues and a compiled timeline. Challenge mode removes the guidance — same clues, same solution, harder to solve.
First-time hosts should use Standard. If your group loves escape rooms or has played murder mysteries before, try Challenge.
Yes. Start with Challenge and switch to the Standard hints if players get stuck.
05
Spoilers & replay
Once you know the solution you can't solve it again — but you can host it for a different group of friends.
No. The host doesn't play a character. Your job is to run the evening and reveal the truth at the end.
They can still play their character, just not as a detective. Ask them not to spoil it for everyone else.
06
Player count
It varies by mystery, from 6 up to 16 players. Each mystery page lists its exact range, and the Host Guide explains how to scale for your group.
We don't recommend it. The host knows the solution and hands out the clues — it's a different role.
The Host Guide tells you which characters can be cut and how to redistribute their information. Host Mode can help on the night too.
07
Membership
Pay US$99 a year and you get 12 mystery download credits and 12 AI mystery generator credits straight away, to use any time during your membership year.
One mystery credit downloads one mystery from the catalogue. One AI credit creates one custom mystery with the generator. You get 12 of each at the start of each membership year.
On any mystery page you'll see "Use a membership credit" instead of "Buy now" while you have credits. Your remaining credits are shown in your dashboard.
Yes, any mystery in the catalogue. The only limit is that you can't download the same mystery twice.
You have the whole membership year to use them. Unused credits expire when your membership renews.
Yes. If you run out of credits or want another mystery, you can buy any mystery on its own for $29.
"Death at Bingo Night" is added to your account as soon as you join. It doesn't use a credit, and it's yours to keep even if you cancel.
Yes, from your dashboard or by email. You keep access until the end of your membership year, and everything you downloaded is yours to keep.
If you'll host more than three mysteries a year, yes. If you use all 12 catalogue credits, that's about $8.25 a mystery against $29 each — and you also get 12 AI generator credits and the bonus mystery.
